spoiler free review: lost boy
“Come on, Jamie, follow me. Follow me and you’ll never grow up!”
I took one step, and then another, and then I was inside and the earth seemed to close all around me.”
Lost boy tells the story of Jamie, he is the first lost boy in Peter Pans group of boys and Peters right hand. All the other boys think they are special, but they aren't, Jamie is the only special one. Peter is the person who just wants to have fun all the time, though his idea of fun is dangerous, while Jamie is there to take care of the boys and make sure they don't die. There is no growing up allowed and everyone has to play all the time on Peter's island, but more and more Jamie starts to realize something is off about Peter.I took one step, and then another, and then I was inside and the earth seemed to close all around me.”
I absolutely LOVED this book omg. The story is very well written, Christina Henry really makes you feel like you are there with Peter and his boys. I flew through the book (pun not intended) because the writing style is so easy to read, you truly read through it so fast and makes it feel like you haven't been reading for very long even though you have finished like half the book hahaha. I really love how in quit a short period of time you really get to know all of the characters, and I love Jamie so much, he's the cutest. The story line is very intens and pretty dark and cruel, so keep that in mind for younger readers.
Some people asked me if it ruined Peter Pan for me, I'd say if you have read the original book it probably won't, but if all you know is the Disney movie it might slightly ruin the happy fun story for you. That doesn't mean I wouldn't very highly recommend the book though!
